DANIEL 'R' (rescue) WEBSTER FOSTER

DANIEL is our 207th rescue/foster.

We captured Daniel 'R' FOSTER on March 21st, 2022.
Released April 12th, 2022

Callisto was also with us at this time until she recovered from surgery. And to get more socialization.

Daniel is a feral grey tabby cat that has been visiting us for three winters. He's had a rough life so far, many fights; the latest of which left his right ear and left side of his neck badly damaged. After these latest injuries, I was determined to try and get him some help. I had no hope of catching him without the trap provided by the Urban Cat Coalition.

Amazingly enough, I DID manage to trap him on the morning of the 21st which was perfect timing. Daniel went to the TNR clinic that morning; I picked him up later in the afternoon after he was fixed and after he obtained some much needed TLC. Antibiotics, etc. to help him heal. So, if you can . . .

Daniel hisses and swipes at us if we approach him. It is clear Daniel is not adoptable; he is too wild. But we will make sure he is healed up and then release him back into the neighborhood. I'm sure we can look forward to seeing him every morning, waiting for a warm breakfast!

Overall, we have made good progress these last few weeks on our feral population. It feels great knowing several neighborhood felines will have better lives moving forward.

UPDATES:

March 27th, 2022

Both Daniel and Callisto are still with us. Daniel needs further vet care before we can release him.
Callisto needs more socialization.

April 4th, 2022

Daniel is in surgery for an ear polyp and a broken canine tooth. He will recover with us and then be set free.
Callisto still needs more socialization.

April 12th, 2022

Daniel had a rough time of it; he had to have surgery for an ear polyp and broken tooth. He scratched at his ear after surgery which caused it to bleed again. Recovery took longer than expected however at this time he seems to be okay. We released him back into the neighborhood. We hope he continues to visit us so we can keep an eye on him for any additional problems. Go Daniel! Live long and free.

P.S. Callisto still needs more socialization, so she is still with us.

April 19th, 2022

Callisto continued on with the rest of her story; she will be adopted by her forever family where she will, hopefully, live happily ever after. Good luck, girl!

Final update(?) - June 7th, 2022

After release, we did not see Daniel for a few weeks, but he eventually did come back and is now visiting our porch daily for a meal.
I am so happy we were able to help him, he looks so much better. I'm sure he is grateful. LOL.
