He was clipped! I was hoping to find out details of his journey, alas, the information was not available. But they took a look at him and said he looked in good shape. So, after a quick look over, they advised me to release him.
Not sure if this counts as a rescue or not, but I decided it does.
He was freed on May 20th, 2022. Only a short stay with us but he was very happy to get out of that trap.
Clippy likes to look out from the cat condo; Daniel is getting friendlier!

I have still been unable to trap Clippy, but I did manage to get his chip number.
He was originally TNR'd in 2017 and released around Mitchell Park, some 1.5 miles from our house.
He's been on his own for a long time, poor boy.
His 'real' name is Smokey!! So I will probably be calling him Clippy Smokey, just because.
Clippy Smokey, in 2017
On Nov 7th, after weeks of trying, I finally was able to capture him! (I trapped him in his cat condo; I felt bad about tricking him, but he WOULD NOT approach the trap.
Thanks to UCC, I was able to take him to the vet on 11/15; he had a lot of bad teeth and seems to be an older cat, but he is holding his own. We will keep him inside for a bit to make sure he is healing up and hopefully to beef him up a bit. He is incredibly fearful; I doubt if I will be able to change his behavior but I will try.
Clippy Smokey is making good progress after dental surgery. We are holding him until we feel he is good and strong.
He was not interested in interacting with us at all; he spent a lot of time alone - which is pretty much how he has spent his entire life.
At least with us he was warm and fed!

Right: Sharing the porch space BEHIND the condo. They must have gotten too warm.
Clippy was recaptured on June 23rd for a vet appointment to check on his teeth.
The news was not good, he has severe stomatitis and needs some teeth pulled. Unfortunately, the vet does not have time to do surgery on the same day of the diagnostic;
I will need to make another appointment for him. Alas, I know he is in a lot of pain.
His next appointment is 25 August. Will I be able to trap him????
Unfortunately, we had to wait 8 weeks to get in to the vet! Poor little boy.
But, good news, I was able to trap him on 22nd August 2023. I took him in on the 25th and they pulled 7 teeth, gave him some shots, etc. He needs more teeth taken out eventually, ('all of them' said the vet) but hopefully he will be a bit more comfortable now.
