(RESCUED!)
Lucinda ('Lucy') and her grey tabby brother (?) were abandoned by some A-hole humans. We started seeing them on our porch in Mid-February. The Gray tabby boy was very skittish and never let me get close, however Lucy was/is very friendly; rather than scoot away when I opened the front door she came right up to me and was very affectionate.
As the weeks went by, I could see Lucy was pregnant. We knew she did not have a decent place to deliver, so we brought her into our house, and kept her in, on 4/24/19. Not a bit too soon!!! On that Sunday, 4/28/19 she started labor. By the time it was all done, she had 6 beautiful healthy kittens. I am so glad we brought her in; the thought of her out there on her own with six kittens to take care of is just too hard to bear.
The first 3-4 weeks were pretty easy for us humans, Lucy was a very good Mom and took care of all their needs. After they were walking around, they were little hellions, but I wouldn't have changed our decision to bring her in for anything. It was an amazing experience. We were able to find homes for Lucinda, Bryce, Glacier, Lassen and Sierra. Five out of seven, not bad. Joshua and Sequoia found good homes via WHS.
Additional drama: we had to find a temporary pet sitter for all seven; we had vacation planned for the first two weeks of June. Thankfully, we found Leah. She took great care of them, in her home, while we were out of town. Thank you Leah!
Lucinda delivers six beautiful kittens!
Lucinda stays very close to her kits; she is a good Mom. The kittens have a heating pad under the towels to keep them warm. Both Mom and her clowder seem very content!
