I've got nothing against tracking travel bugs on geocaching.com, as a matter of fact, I've got a few "traditional" bugs out there of my own, but I wanted to try something different with my own custom made bugs...I don't know how successful this will be - it will depend on folks who find my bugs and take the extra effort to send me an email updating its status...so I hope to hear from a lot of geocachers...I'll place a few and see how it goes. Thanks for dropping by and helping me track my "custom" travel bugs.

GOAL:

The goal of these travel bugs is the same as most; to see as many caches as possible and hopefully have their picture taken along they way; please send photos home so everyone can see where they have been.

UPDATE:

Thanks to all of you who have kept me updated on the travels of these little bugs; many have gone missing; I hope they have a nice home. For those of you who have sent me updates...I want you to know I greatly appreciate your time and efforts - I love reading your stories and seeing photos of the area you are in, the people you are with and the adventures you are sharing - Thanks everyone, and happy geocaching! (Dec 2012)

If you have found one of my bugs, please email me with an update on the Travel Bugs location. These are some of the things that would be interesting to include in your email:

1) Where did you find it? If possible, provide the geocache name and/or the Geocache Code
2) Send a picture of the travel bug in its new surroundings
3) Share any other observations you have
4) Tell me how much info you want of yourself to be included. Name? Email? Or no contact info? It's your choice...if you don't indicate a choice, I'll assume you want to remain anonymous.
5) And don't forget to send the little guy on its way again...please don't keep it. If you provide a picture of where you found the travel bug, I'd be happy to send you another one... it may be a different color, and a little different size but I'd get it to you if you would like one...I just want to keep the travel bugs...well...traveling.

I will try to update each travel bugs location as soon as I can, but it may take awhile. I will keep you updated via email; when I've posted your info, I'll let you know. In the meantime you can view the places the travel bug has been on this page. Just identify the one you have found - either visually - or by its number found on the back side (or both) and view the details below.

Thanks for participating in my little adventure.

Some history: the originally penguin was created as a giant christmas decoration and placed in the middle of some city owned greenway. The penguin drew some attention and later a playground and children's park was built around the giant penguin. Cyle says he and his fiance recall playing here at Penguin Park as children; it was very neat to come back for a cache hunt and then to find this travel bug and submit this story! *** Thanks Cyle, I love hearing details about various geocaches...and thanks for the fine photo!

Scooter2010 placed Custom Travel Bug #120320-06 in "Lynn and Alfred" (GC388J5) in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin.

Scooter2010 provides a little history:
Genesee Depot is famous for the Ten Chimneys estate previously owned by Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontaine. Alfred was a famous actor and director, becoming a star in 1919. Lynn was a British actress and a major stage star in the U.S., with popular acclaim in 1921. The Lunts lived for many years at Ten Chimney's, but never had children. Lynn passed away in 1983, and Alfred passed away in 1977. There are tours of Ten Chimneys available [for] a fee. The Lunt Fontaine Nature Center is near Ten Chimneys. The nature trails are great, with lots of birds and wildlife.

Thanks again Scooter2010 for the pictures and the historical details; I've actually passed the "Ten Chimney's" sign on I94 many times in the last few years; always wanted to stop and take a closer look. Next time I will!
