John Burton lent us his 2003 Nissan Xterra. It was fabulous; we were able to traverse all sorts of crazy roads. I never would have attempted driving on some of those roads without a sturdy vehicle. A gal that worked at a lodge we stayed at ended up driving up to SLC and buying the vehicle after our trip. I think she will be very happy with that truck! If I had a parking slab, I would have considered buying it myself!
We had a great trip, come along with us on our journey...
The hike wasn't too strenuous, however, it was certainly more scary than I remember. The first time I hiked the trail I was young and foolish. I remember walking under the arch on that trip. Not this one! I hugged the rock wall on that last bit, geez, that's a long way down.
THE HIKE ALONG THE EDGE WAS RATHER FRIGHTENING.
Bluff Fort is a must see; although the history is a little whitewashed, I'd say!
Fabulous.

The pictures do not do it justice; it was scary.
MOKI DUGWAY is on State Route 261; a state highway in San Juan County, Utah. It runs 34 miles (55 km) north, from the junction of U.S. Route 163 (3 miles (4.8 km) north of Mexican Hat), to the junction with State Route 95, just east of Natural Bridges National Monument.
The highway is part of the Utah section of the Trail of the Ancients, a National Scenic Byway. It includes steep switchbacks as it traverses the Moki Dugway."
